DEAD IN THE WATER
Should we be
surprised that Dean is good with kids?
I don’t think that the viewer should be surprised.Although he comes across as tough smart-alec most of the time, there are moments in the first few episodes that show his softer side. These mainly creep up when he is dealing with Sam, like in ‘Wendigo’, when he tells Sam how he deals with people who question their sanity, and also in the beginning of ‘Phantom Traveller’, when he talks about the sleepless nights his little brother has been having and ask if he is OK.
Dean was the person
who mainly took care of and raised Sam, even though he was only four years
older than him. This is because their dad was so focused on hunting and
avenging his wife’s death that he didn’t raise his kids as well as he could.
Sam turned out to be very smart and caring, and he has very good values, all of
which he must have learned from Dean.
These are excellent points.
ReplyDeleteIt is interesting to me that when they rescue the Amy Acker character it is Sam that pulls her out of the tub, Dean stays with Lucas.
You will notes that only with very specific exceptions that Dean is ALWAYS the one who saves the kids. It's kind of an interesting quirk, I think.
